14th Annual Shorcan|TMX Charity event with Toronto Youth Development

On January 19, 2012, Toronto Youth Development once again helped open the TSX with other charities for the 14th Annual Shorcan|TMX Charity event. All trade revenue for the day is donated to various charities including TYD.

ASE Science, Technology and Engineering Program: Grades 5 to 12

 

In this new program, children and youth are subject to the marvels of science, technology and engineering.

The children grade 5-8 will draw upon basic elements of each sector and are exposed to the magic and marvel of the scientific world.

 

 

 

 

Youth grade 9-12 will be provided with the hands-on opportunity to explore their talents technically and academically in order for the development of interest, critical thinking and aptitude to explore possible career aspirations within this field.

 

 

 

 

University science, engineering and media arts students will volunteer their time to deliver a constructed curriculum and offer their valuable knowledge.

 

 

 

Business professionals within these fields will provide workshops and valuable hands-on projects to provide real life applications of their learning, and engage the youth. Excursions include the Ontario Science Centre, Toronto Aerospace Museum, Microsoft and Apple Canada Tours and private engineering and architectural firms.

A chance of a lifetime for TYD’s children

Toronto, 7 November 2010 - TYD kids on the ice with the Toronto Maple Leafs

In partnerships wth Forzani Group Ltd.’s Sport Chek and the Toronto Maple Leafs, TYD  was invited to participate in two five-hour private hockey clincs. On November 7, the first clinic was held at the Mastercard Centre featuring Luke Schenn. On November 14, the second clinic will be held featuring Wendel Clark. The children were provided with t-shirts, and pictures of the stars of the Toronto Maple Leafs. What a chance of a lifetime for TYD’s children.

Many thanks to Jennifer Harbour – coordinator for Forzani Group’s The Power of Sport For Kids Program – and the Toronto Maple Leafs to make this experince possible.

These are memories that will last a lifetime.

Saturday Volunteers Needed for Mentoring, Tutoring and Sports

In Regent Park, there are hundreds of inner-city boys looking for SOMEONE they can look up to.

That’s where YOU come in.

Steve Nash Youth Basketball is a new Saturday program that offers inner-city kids support through one-on-one mentoring, tutoring, and sports enrichment.

You can HELP – Mentor or tutor an inner-city child a couple of hours each Saturday, or once a month.

YBSP Yacht Event Raises $1,200 for TYD

Toronto, 17 September 2010 – Young Bay Street Professionals Raises $1,200 for TYD

Thank you to all 80 young professionals who came out to support a good cause at our YBSP Yacht Event. Because of your generous support, we were able to raise $1200 through ticket sales. The proceeds will be used to empower at-risk, inner city youth in Toronto, through education, sports and character development so that they may go on to lead productive lives and create healthy families.
